There are a number of elements that go into determining how much a cleaning service will charge you to clean your house. On average, you can expect to pay between from $37 to $55 per hour for house cleaning. The final price will largely depend on the following –
Many people who call us are often surprised with the cost of house cleaning and expect house cleaning to be in the range of $25 to $30 per hour which was not uncommon just a couple years ago. As I’ve explained to many people in the past, the cleaning services charging these sort of cheap rates are unlikely to be able to provide a reliable cleaning service. The minimum wage for casual cleaners in Australia is currently $27.14 per hour. Add in superannuation, travel time, costs for cleaning equipment / chemicals, insurance, petrol, tolls etc – this makes charging anything under $37 per hr unsustainable for anyone who wants to run a profitable cleaning company with reliable staff and good service.
Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, there were cleaning agencies who got around minimum wage laws by hiring overseas holiday makers and students under the table – but since immigration is at a standstill right now, many of these agencies have lost access to cheap labour and many have closed up.

It usually takes approximately 1.5 to 2hrs to do a regular clean an apartment and 2 to 2.5hrs to do a regular cleaning for a house if they are well maintained. You will need to add at least 1 to 2hrs for properties which are very dirty or if you need a more thorough cleaning.
