How to Clean Tiles After Construction

Nothing brings us more joy than building the home of our dreams. Tiled floors are a popular choice when it comes to modern homes but many home owners are disappointed to find that their floors still covered in dust and grout haze after the construction has finished.

The process outlined below will help you remove all visible signs construction and bring the shine to your new floors, make sure you  –

Cleaning Process for Porcelain & Ceramic Tiles

Equipment Required:

  • Cleaning Vinegar Solution (60ml vinegar & 5L water)
  • Grout Sponge
  • Blue coloured abrasive scrubbing pad
  • Grout brush
  1. Thoroughly vacuum and sweep the tiled area to remove dust and debris
  2. Using the grout sponge, saturate the tile surface with a vinegar-and-water solution
  3. Leave to dwell for 5minutes before using the blue abrasive pad to scrub the tile surface (ensure surface is still wet)
  4. Use the grout brush to scrub the grout lines
  5. Rinse the tiles using warm water
  6. Dry the tiles using the grout sponge

Cleaning Process for Marble Tiles & Natural Stone

Equipment Required:

  • Commercial Stone Cleaning Detergent or Plain Water with bit of dish washing soap
  • Grout Sponge
  • White non-abrasive scrubbing pad
  • Grout brush
  1. Thoroughly vacuum and sweep the tiled area to remove dust and debris
  2. Using the grout sponge, saturate the tile surface with the cleaning detergent
  3. Use the white non-abrasive pad to scrub the tile surface (ensure surface is still wet)
  4. Use the grout brush to scrub the grout lines
  5. Rinse the tiles using warm water
  6. Dry the tiles using the grout sponge

How About Cleaning Epoxy Grout?

The methods above only work when cleaning tiles which have cement grout. Epoxy grout requires a different cleaning process which can be found here.
